Norway. No Reason

I awoke in the deepest part of night at the very edge of morning, aware that it had never gotten dark. Almost dark, but never quite, and when I looked out the window to the mountains beyond, the sky was white, and the world a composition in notes of white and blue and silver gray. It was a secret, hushed, and holy kind of light, a distant cousin to moonlight, but brighter, more encompassing, more layered and revealing.

And maybe that single moment, standing by a window in this land of midnight sun, was reason enough to have come here.
